I was born here

I started my undergraduate studies at ENSEP and Physics Institue at University Es-Senia Oran. After completing the six first semesters (S1-S6 credits), I came to Paris to complete my graduate studies at ENSTelecom Paris and University Paris 11 (Orsay). I received Maitrise in Physics and Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies in Optics and Signal Processing from University Orsay-Paris XI (Equivalent : Masters of Sciences) in June 1982 and June 1983 respectively and the PhD in Physics (Specialism : Optics and Signal Processing) from University Paris 6 in June 1986.

My thesis has been devoted to the development of image processing tools for TEM (Transmission Electron Micrograph ) thin films morphology study in the framework of fractal geometry and percolation theory.

During the academic year 1986-1987 , I was a postdoctoral researcher at Groupe d'Analyse d'Images Biomédicales (CNAM Paris ) and Laboratoire d'Optique des Solides (University of Paris 6).

From 1987 to 1989 I have been an Assistant Associé (Assistant Professor ) at University Paris 13. During this period I was with LPMTM CNRS Laboratory working on SEM materials image analysis.

In October 1989, I have held an appointment as Maître de Conférences (Associate professor). I have been continuing all my research activity at LPMTM CNRS Laboratory at University Paris 13 working on Image Processing Applications for Mechanical Problems, until December 1997.

I received my "Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches" from University Paris 13 in May 1994. This is an achievement of ten years of research on Image Processing Fundamentals (Image Enhancement, Non linear Filtering, Segmentation, image analysis ) and their applications on Physical and Mechanical problems (Multifractal and Entropic Analysis of Disordered Heteregeneous Media - Measurement of Mechanical Deformation from Scanning Electron Microscope Images).

I am currently Full Professor at the University of Paris 13 (Institut Galilée) and researcher at L2Ti where I do all my research on Image Processing (Image Enhancement, Nonlinear Filtering , Segmentation, Image Quality, Medical Imaging and Physics-based and bio-inspired Models for Image Analysis).
